Others claimed it 'depends' on whether the employee is working at a checkout with 'dual chutes' (two cashiers) or not. 'Technically we are allowed to start scanning whenever we want, but it is highly advised we do wait until all items are put on the belt before we do start,' a third person added. We can offer to help you with your items but technically we are supposed to wait.' Others joined the conversation with one person writing: 'I have had them say they are unable to start until my trolley is at the other end before.'Īnother said: 'Our most recent training states that we shouldn't scan before all items are on the belt. Current and former Aldi Australia workers claim employees are encouraged to not scan any item until the customer has placed everything on the conveyor belt. It's believed the policy is in place to prevent groceries from piling up at the end of the cashier, and so the customer has enough time to pack their items into bags or a trolley ![]()
